With the 2021-2027 programming cycle and Next Generation EU, that combined are worth EUR 1,800 billion, the EU aims to act as a catalyst with respect to national policies on strategic sustainable development objectives. The Italian government plan of action provides significant financial resources for culture and focuses on digital,green transition and environmental sustainability objectives.  

The plan involves the regeneration of major cultural attractions, the removal of physical and sensory barriers in archives, museums and state libraries, a broad digitisation programme, cultural-based urban and rural regeneration measures, and actions to support cultural operators in the digital and green transition.
